Quantum Set to Lead Hybrid Car Revolution
The future of American cars rests with hybrid technology. As the country moves away from its dependence on foreign oil and adopts more environmentally friendly automotive measures, companies like Quantum Fuel Systems (NASDAQ: QTWW), who are developing a wide range of premium hybrid cars, are set to benefit. One of those cars in particular is going to catch the attention of the whole country: the Fisker Karma, Quantum’s premier plug-in hybrid sports car, being showcased in January 2009, at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan.
Proof that America is going green and moving towards hybrid cars can be seen by the fact that in 2007 the hybrid Toyota Prius was one of the 10 best selling cars in America. On top of that, President-Elect Obama’s “New Energy for America Plan”, calls for putting one million plug in hybrid cars on the road by 2015. The Fisker Karma, produced by Quantum’s affiliate, Fisker Automotive, Inc., is positioned to take advantage of Obama’s new energy plan. Additionally, Quantum and Fisker will be unveiling several more hybrid models over the next three years, satisfying America’s demand for premium hybrid cars.
The Fisker Karma is set to be the star at North American International Auto Show and grab the attention of America. The Fisker Karma contains Quantum’s Q-Drive plug-in hybrid electric drive system, which is designed to achieve 50 miles of zero emission, battery-only range while providing combined gasoline-electric hybrid operation to enable uncompromised vehicle range and performance. With this balance of electric and gasoline range, Fisker Automotive estimates that most Karma drivers who charge the Karma overnight and commute less than 50 miles per day, will be able to achieve an average fuel economy of 100 mpg (2.4L/100km) per year. These are astounding numbers that fit perfectly within America’s new green energy framework, which means big business.
With the Fisker KARMA scheduled to begin delivery in November, 2009, and additional hybrid models unveiling in 2010 and 2011, Quantum is strategically positioned within the green automotive market. By offering what the country wants and needs in the form of premium hybrid cars, Quantum is set to not only help the environment, but become a market force. The smart money says now is the time to invest.

Thats one sweet ride.
Nice looking car but with this kind of economy aren’t we supposed to bite the bullet and keep prices down and help some of the little guys get into the allternitive feul markets? At almost 87,000 where is the market? Prodution of 15,000 will make a dent on a Knats @#& in the gas hungry USA.
Deflation (as in falling prices, not monetary deflation due to decreased money supply), occurs naturally with increased supply and and competition. This will happen with hybrids over time as well. Creating hybrid vehicles is costly for the producer now (whether a Prius or a luxury sports sedan) for a number of reasons (production costs mainly). Look at flat panel TVs when they first came out — who could pay $6,000 to $8,000 for a TV? By 2008, flat panel TVs will have fallen about 80% in four years — according to RTO Online (Rent to Own Online). You can get one at Wal-Mart for less than $700. Flat panel TV technology was invented in the 1960s but not popularized until the 1990s by Panasonic and others. I think the time is ripe for alternative energy vehicles; and who is better able to compete than someone who already has the know-how and production capabilities in place, like Fisker. Create a good product and consumers will come.
Wrong Allison. Where do you get your analysis from? Comparing flat panel tvs, and the flat panel tv market, to the hybrid car market doesn’t work at all. Also, nobody here has 5, 10, 20 years to wait until hybrid car prices fall like flat panel tv’s did. You kidding? The car market right now is terrible!! Also, this company is so leveraged and constantly searching for cash! To add to that, right now is not a good time for small companies to seek lending. What valid revenue streams do they have? Granted, the car is beautiful, but the company is not making enough of them. 15,000 cars is nothing! Selling all of those cars won’t even result in profit! Run away from QTWW as fast as possible!!
WOW! What a HOT car! I saw the bit about it on the television the other day. I think my heart is still thumping. Quantum… You are doing excellent work in bringing the “future” of hybrid tecnology into the present. That car definately gets my blood pumping and the adrenalin flowing I would love to have my fingers wrapped around the steering wheel knowing that the only thing I would be burning is rubber… and not fuel:) Poor, Poor Adrian… nice picture… what?…all looks and no brain? If you want a cheap car then go to your local used car dealer and ask him which car on their lot leaks the most oil and has the baldest tires… I bet you could get a great deal “for the little guy”. As for me I live in a nation of free enterprise and growing technology, not everyone in this great nation is little and I’m sorry that you feel that you are. I am a strong, intelligent, American woman… I am not little. I am glad we live in a nation of diversity, where my neighbor or myself could drive down the street in our fancy little cars, honk our little horns & shout out of the window of our little car… “MY DOG is BIGGER THAN YOUR DOG”.
HOORAY FOR AMERICA, and HOORAY FOR QUANTUM!
